After a few introductory posts, it's time to present the central theme that prompted my return to writing: the human body is much more than just a vile carbon emitter!
It is the "hardware" that we were given and, like all hardware, it has an operating system with vulnerabilities.
The main one is the altered state of consciousness.
INTRODUCTION
Many, eager to access (or falsely display) the "powers of the supernatural," have trivialized what the Bible treats with extreme seriousness. Let's analyze biblically what happens when the natural state of mind is suspended and the risk of "remote control" that this represents.
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness.”;
and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.
So God created man in his own image;
He created him in the image of God;
He created them male and female.
Because it was created at the end of the sixth day, the number six It is generally linked to humankind. The number seven, the day on which the Lord rests, is one of many others associated with Him.
How can such a concise text contain so much information?
Despite the temptation to focus on the unquestionable determination of sex (there are only the same two "flavors" from the start), let's concentrate on the "hardware" itself.
The Human Hardware: Body and Brain
To understand vulnerability, we first need to understand the equipment. The human body is an item without warranty and frequently has manufacturing defects, and it is up to the user to learn how to use it.
There are records, but on average a human being can survive about a week without food, four days without water, and, most critically, a mere three minutes without breathing!
This critical dependence on breathing is directly connected to its creation:
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life;
and man became a living soul.
The Central Computer: The Brain
Composed of two tissues (gray cortex and white matter), the brain has four lobes, two hemispheres, and consumes more than 20% of our oxygen, even though it weighs only 2% of body mass.
This “central computer” controls all our activities, movements, memories, and emotions. Even today, the debate about the soul having its seat in the brain (The entry point to an altered state of consciousness) persists, but there is a consensus that life ends with "brain death.".
Medical science, although the greatest source of knowledge about anatomy, acknowledges recent discoveries of new organs (such as the interstitium and the mesentery), proving that he does not possess absolute knowledge.
The winner of the Nobel Prize in Medicine, John Carew Eccles, In 1963, he made a serious statement about this "hardware":
It seems that [the brain] is the kind of machine that a 'ghost' could operate, if by ghost we understand first and foremost an 'agent' whose action escaped detection even by the most delicate physical instruments.
What kind of "remote operation" would that be? It begins when the user loses control of the operating system through an altered state of consciousness.
Altered States of Consciousness in the Bible
Continuing our analysis of the brain, let's focus on the biblical reading about altered states of consciousness.
How many times has God actually altered someone's consciousness?
THE BEGINNING
IndividualAdam; Provoked action: deep sleep; Objective: to initiate the human species.
The first record was direct, brought about by God for a creative purpose:
Then the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep.
And while he slept, he took one of his ribs and closed up the place with flesh.
With the rib that he had taken from the man, the Lord God made a woman and brought her to him.
It is important to understand the difference between this episode where God himself put Adam to sleep and that of Jacob, who, despite being destined to be the patriarch of Israel, slept as normally as possible:
Taking one of the stones from there, he used it as a pillow and lay down.
And he had a dream in which he saw a ladder resting on the ground;
its summit reached the heavens,
And the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.
Moses, for his part, neither slept nor altered his state of consciousness: the guy spoke directly with God from the episode of the burning bush onwards (Exodus 3)!!
Still—PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THIS!—see what happened to his physical body in the presence of the Lord:
Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting,
And the glory of Yahweh filled all the precincts of the Tabernacle.
Moses could not even enter the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud hovered over it.,
And the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle completely.
A very similar episode has also been completely distorted when citing the following passage:
And it came to pass, when they sounded the trumpets and sang as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD;
And they raised their voices with trumpets, cymbals, and other musical instruments, praising the Lord, saying:
Because he is good, because his kindness endures forever,
Then the house was filled with a cloud, that is, the house of the LORD;
And the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud;
For the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.
There was a time when I even swallowed this nonsense as justification for the fools who seek altered states of consciousness, but this passage in no way indicates that the priests went into trances or had visions: just like Moses, their physical bodies could not remain standing in the presence of the LORD!!
It wasn't selective, it wasn't optional, it wasn't voluntary: EVERYONE FELL!!
In most other cases, God delivered the message through angels or through visions in dreams.
Until it arrived…
THE MIDDLE
IndividualDaniel;
Provoked actionLoss of senses;
ObjectiveA vision of the end times.
With Daniel, things escalated from dreams (Daniel 7:1) for direct intervention, given the seriousness of the revelation:
I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision;
Those who were with me saw nothing, but such terror seized them that they fled and hid themselves.
So I was left alone, gazing at that vast view;
I was left without strength, very pale, and almost fainted.
Then I heard him speaking, and when I heard him, I fell prostrate, face to the ground, and lost consciousness.
(…)
Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a future time.
Yes! This was the second time in the Bible that the Lord God altered someone's natural state of consciousness: Daniel didn't use mystical techniques, he didn't resort to esoteric means… he simply did!
THE END

Then, in chronological order, came the Lord Jesus Christ, whose ministry, even though it included the practice of miracles, was entirely focused on the Word and devoid of mysticism: with Him there were no dreams or visions, and even the episode of the temptation (of Matthew 4It was real.
Ah! in the transfiguration (of Matthew 17He himself was the vision for the disciples!
After Christ left, some visions began to occur again—in fact, my favorite is that of the unclean animals (found in Acts 11) — and no account of altered states of consciousness: not even the apostle Paul's mention of "being taken up to the third heaven" (2ⁿᵈ Corinthians 12:2-4This neither indicates the details of the process nor provides a basis for the disorderly and ostentatious attitudes practiced by modern pseudo-evangelical movements.
Until…
I, John, your brother and companion in suffering, in the Kingdom and in perseverance in Jesus,
I was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.
On the Lord's Day I found myself in the Spirit.
And I heard behind me a loud voice, like a trumpet, saying:
’'Write in a book what you see and send it to these seven churches: Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.'’
And that's it.
These are three specific episodes, divinely orchestrated and with purposes of relevance to all of humanity.
The Body = Hardware
It is the physical machine where everything happens, but it doesn't define the logic; it only processes it as long as there is energy.
- Finite, subject to bugs (sin), security vulnerabilities;
- Designed for planned obsolescence (death).
Holy Spirit (Faith) = Operating System
The Operating System is installed at the point of embarkation (Conversion). Without it, the hardware It's a spiritual paperweight.
- Enhances and directs hardware actions;
- It refers to and enables constant updates (renewal of understanding, via Scripture);
- It guarantees the transmission of content to the cloud by destroying the hardware.
Sanctification Applications
These are the decision-making bodies. For each area of life, the Operating System It needs to trigger a different facet of sanctification.
- Professional: Integrity;
- Social: Character;
- Private (Secret): Purity;
- Digital: Discernment.
False Meditation and "Falling in the Spirit"“

Behold, I tell you that tomorrow the devil will attack you and you will have diarrhea!!!!
In 2009, for a business event, I had ordered and prepaid for two dozen shirts from a man who lived in the Rosendo neighborhood, here in Campo Grande (RJ), but the delivery deadline arrived and nothing was delivered.
Distressed, one morning I decided to go to his house to get news, and upon arriving, to my surprise, the man was lying down, surrounded by people with their hands clasped together, and someone came to speak to me, as if my presence were inappropriate:
Look, he's our pastor and he's "in the spirit"!
Then I asked when it would end and I wasn't surprised to hear that they didn't know, that it could take all day!
I stayed there for another half hour and nothing…
Do you know what happened?
The scoundrel pocketed the money, ripped me off, and got away with it!
Now, what spirit—if there was one—was behind that false altered state of consciousness if not the one that operates theft and injustice?
That was the first time I saw an emissary of Satan disguising himself as the "holy spirit," and many others followed, always with cowards, incompetents, swindlers, or ignorant people who hide their flaws and crimes under the cloak of religiosity.
The Danger of the “Remote Control”
The Bible is clear about meditation. It is not a way to empty the mind or induce an altered state of consciousness. Rather, it is an act of intellectual and spiritual focus on the Word.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.,
nor does it linger in the path of sinners,
nor does he sit in the company of mockers.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord.,
and meditates on His law day and night.
If the Bible records only three divinely induced changes of consciousness, who is in control of the others?
We have today clowns trying to emulate power, with selective falls, spasms and mimicked glossolalia, often to deliver fortune-telling content under the guise of "prophecy".
The true Holy Spirit does not operate in this way:
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,
He will teach you all things.,
and will remind you of everything I have told you.
The spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace.
When "human hardware" is voluntarily placed in an altered state of consciousness – whether through mystical techniques, esotericism, or false revival – the user is, in effect, opening the system to unauthorized "remote control" disguised as spirituality.
