The collective hysteria that the world has branded a pandemic did not take the Creator by surprise!
Although chaos has frightened us, even before the foundation of the world the Creator already possessed full foreknowledge In these dark days, nothing that happens under the sun has the power to shake His eternal plans.
So, calm your humanist heart: this is a direct letter to all those on death row—that is, all of us—and especially to Christians who, lacking biblical foundation, tremble before the approach of their last moment.
Only the living don't know...
While we are on "this side," finitude seems to us like an untamable monster.
The continuous media bombardment and digital panic create a bleak scenario, capable of shaking the mental (and even physical!) structure, provoking a state of anguish and depression that can even accelerate the inclusion of many into the grim list of those who have passed away.
But how should we, who profess genuine faith, view the last moments of life and the details surrounding them?
Richard Wurmbrand, who tasted the cup of pain for 14 years in communist prisons, recounted what he witnessed in "Room Four," the infamous "Death Room":
During the thirty months I spent there, many died and their places were taken by others. There is, however, one noteworthy fact: no one died an atheist.
Fascists, communists, saints, murderers, thieves, priests, wealthy landowners, and the poorest peasants were all crammed together in a tiny cell. Yet none of them died without making peace with God and their neighbor: many entered Room Four as unbelievers with firm convictions… I always saw their unbelief crumble in the face of death.
I had heard it said: “If a cat crosses a bridge, it doesn’t mean the bridge is solid; but if a train passes over it, then it must be solid.” Therefore, if someone calls themselves an atheist while sitting with their spouse having tea and cake, that is no proof of atheism.
For a conviction to be genuine, it must survive enormous pressure… and that doesn't happen with atheists.
Wurmbrand's observation is insightful, but dangerous if misinterpreted. It immediately brings to mind the scene of Calvary:
And one of the criminals who were hanged there blasphemed against him, saying:
If you are the Christ, save yourself and us.
But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying:
Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation?
And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.
And he said to Jesus:
Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom.
And Jesus said to him:
Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in Paradise.
We grew up hearing, based on this text or on Stephen's vision (Acts 7:55-56), the text suggests that at the last moment of life everyone receives a "golden opportunity" to accept Christ, but is there any biblical support for this doctrine of comfort, or is it merely a sedative to calm those who remain, allowing them to imagine that any rebellious soul has found Paradise with a snap of their fingers?
Worse still: even if this opportunity for late salvation were the rule, would men—accustomed to a life of rejecting the Truth—be ready to discern the light when the darkness of death finally surrounds them?
What will it be like?
The first and unsettling question that comes to mind regarding this matter is the fact that this supposed "opportunity" is strongly linked to a romantic and classic image of "slow death." It's that narrative where one senses the approach of the end and recounts fantastic visions: angels, tunnels of light, and even Christ himself would appear to accompany the soul.
However, technology and the brutality of modern times have created situations that are completely incompatible with this placid image.

In cases of unexpected and sudden death—how would that last moment manifest itself? Would those people have time to experience a "moment of decision"? The fact is, we cannot live our entire lives relying on that last-minute trump card.
The Word of God presents a picture of complete inability to change after death. The seal is placed the moment breath ceases.
Just as the cloud dissipates and passes,
Thus, he who goes down to the grave will never rise again.
He will never return to his home again.,
Nor will his place ever know him.
Because the living know that they will die,
But the dead know nothing at all.,
Nor will they receive any reward.,
But its memory is consigned to oblivion.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.,
because in the grave, where you are going,
There is no work, no planning, no knowledge, no wisdom whatsoever.
Satan Will Be the Defendant, Not the Jailer
This is where popular mythology, fueled by shallow religious traditions and Hollywood productions, needs to be demolished. Many imagine hell as a kingdom where Satan, wielding a trident, administers the suffering of others. It's a theological deception.
The text of Luke 16:23-24 reveals that consciousness in Hades is immediate; the Rich Man is not being tortured by demons, but by the thirst and fire of just divine retribution. Satan and his henchmen only have jurisdiction to act until they push the human being "down into death.".
Neither now nor in eternity do they simply not hold the position of jailers: if they are now free and roaming the world seeking whom they may devour, in the future they will be "dungeon companions" for whatever consequences may arise related to eternal damnation.
And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet are; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.
Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
And anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
This prophetic passage makes it very clear that the Devil himself will be one of the first to be thrown into the Lake of Fire to be tormented: he will not reign over the fire, but will be consumed by it, along with all those whose names were not found written in the Book of Life.
There, where the beast doesn't die and the fire never goes out (Mark 9:44-48). There will be no satanic hierarchy, only the equality of eternal punishment for all who have rejected the Creator.
The time to make a decision is called life.
I am not referring to those psychological conversions driven by convenience or pure fear of damnation, where it is believed that eternal life can be bought through mindless subservience to the mercenaries of faith, representatives of a certain "Jesus".
Currency Exchange at the Last Minute
I wasn't deaf yet when I originally published this article, and while riding the bus, I overheard someone absorbed by this "theological vacuum" fearlessly preaching the "creed of the Holy Tithe": the tithe is sacred! No matter what the pastor does with it, we have to deliver it to the treasury!!!
Good grief! Isn't this just another example of a futile attempt to hoard money for your last moments?!
My sudden pity for that soul of clouded understanding led me to an unusual act: I pointed out the texts of scholars like Brian Anderson and I gave them my cell phone number, sincerely requesting a rebuttal on the matter… how I would like to be refuted with solid biblical basis!
It's 2026 — TWENTY YEARS have passed — and, honestly, I'm still waiting for people who want to be enlightened, but unfortunately, all I hear are stories taken out of their original biblical context to support corrupt leaders who impose a stupid fear that contradicts the rationality of the Word.

A Journey Along the Narrow Path
The Lord God definitely did not create us to indulge in stupidity, otherwise He would not have given us a brain to work with and would have provided us with an even larger intestine!
Being a Christian is not about following the crowd, nor about living in fear of ideological clashes!
Being a Christian is not about abandoning all judgment altogether in the name of a sweetened and humanistic "love".
On the contrary: it is to exhort those we love based on righteous justice.
Exceeding such biblical limits means promoting that false peace described in 1ˢᵗ Thessalonians 5:3, the same one against which the Lord Jesus Christ warned us in Matthew 10:34-39.
Given the likelihood of injustice in this supposed "last moment"—which would be available to some and denied to others due to fatal circumstances—I prefer to apply the following passage to my journey (the same one that, regrettably, Rick Warren DISTORTS in his pro-humanist literary trash)“The Purpose Driven Church”):
And if you call on the Father, who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your stay here on the earth.
In other words, from a strictly biblical perspective, the wisest course of action is NOT TO COUNT on this fable of "last moment opportunity". Man's duty is to walk in fear throughout his earthly journey.
Satan, the enemy of our souls, has been at war since before the creation of man, striving to drag as many souls as he can with him.
He plays dirty and adapts: if in the early days the empire tried to extinguish Christianity by the force of beasts in the arena, the strategy changed to the state-controlled faith, mixing religion and state to contaminate the sacred with good intentions, which have been the "driving force" of many ecclesiastical institutions.
Basically, this isn't inherently bad, but not even Luther's Reformation could contain the irreversible contamination we see today in corporate churches: this doesn't even surprise me, as it's simply the fulfillment of biblical prophecies.
It doesn't matter who is around you now: in death, we will be alone with the Creator.

Today, countless businesses sustain themselves through mysticism, rituals, and "anointed" objects.
What should be pure faith in God is redirected towards practices that are just as unnecessary: climbing mountains drenching themselves in different types of oil in cults designed to please and manipulate the public…
We are facing a false gospel capable of deceiving the unwary and keeping them away (perhaps even for life) from true salvation!
The most terrifying thing is to realize that these same people, full of good intentions but empty of the Word, are the same ones who propose to "disciple" the new converts who approach them soon after having their own experiences of having demons expelled in the regular activities of these institutions.
And so, blindly trusting in their pious practices, such people convince themselves that they are being sincere servants of the Lord God.
Some, proud of the visibility of their actions (even if they shout in opposition to true biblical recommendations), launch into a brazen rebellion against the very Word of God when they find no support in it for the beliefs they have obtained through their personal experiences!
Religious Security or Eternal Surprise?
Now imagine, if this "final opportunity" really existed, one of these people experiencing their last moment on earth.
After so many years of "prophetic acts," falls, dances in the spirit, and many tithes given out of fear, she nurtures the expectation that the Lord will send a celestial chariot, flanked by a retinue of angels, that will lead her soul to the mansions and many rewards, proportionate to her religious activism!
Suddenly, the Lord Jesus Christ himself appears before her, asking a single, simple question:
Will you accept me?
I dare to imagine the expression of astonishment that will probably turn into indignation:
— Huh!?! But haven't I spent my whole life prophesying in your name? Haven't I converted hundreds to the gospel? Haven't I cast out so many demons?! How can you ask me if I accept you?! Where is my heavenly chariot? Where is my angelic escort? I DETERMINE… *
The arrogant speech is cut short by the silence of death.
Opportunities have run out, and another one has gone to keep Satan company in the lake of fire and brimstone…
A simple "yes" would have sufficed, but the pride of the one who considered himself "God's partner" speaks louder: instead of converting to Christ at the last moment, this person tries to convert the Lord to the worthless things he believed in his whole life.
This is likely the reason why this dramatic dialogue appears in the Scriptures:
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven.,
But he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
Many will tell me on that day:
Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name?
And in your name we did not cast out demons?
And in your name we did not perform many miracles?
And then I will tell them plainly:
I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness.
This is a letter to those who are about to die, and the Lord inspired me to write it in 2009.
Now, as I revise it in 2026, I am convinced that, despite my sometimes challenging and somewhat jocular tone, it is strictly based on the Bible, something that will provoke the anger of many whom I will never actually meet personally.
I only hope that they will think carefully about this matter and — even if their seared minds choose to spend the rest of their lives practicing all this nonsense that appears pious while denying the true power of God — that they may have the humility to simply say "yes" at the last moment.
If there will ever be one…
