The Lord Jesus Christ, while He lived organically—in human substance and companionship—even being God incarnate and bearing in each of His pronouncements a AXIOM, He chose to considerably limit the extent of His powers. He opted to remain, for the most part, subject to the exact laws with which He defined Creation, setting the stage for the revelation of what would become the greatest blessing.
The Restriction of the Unlimited
Christ himself, as well as his disciples and in direct opposition to the ecclesiastical leaders who have proliferated for two centuries, never promised a "miracle show" or entertainment based on supernatural actions to alter the fate of the audience.
The only miracle that He frequently announced, with prophetic accuracy and well in advance, was this:
As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and said to them on the way:
Behold, we are going to Jerusalem,
And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will condemn him to death.
And they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked, flogged, and crucified.,
And on the third day he will rise again.
It is telling that, contrary to what the politically correct preach,“Red Christians“"The Messiah did not maintain a routine of complicit intimacy with prostitutes or any other radical sinners.".
Although all have sinned, turning iniquity into a profession Identity-based lifestyles are still the exception—however much the media and social engineering try to impose such practices as the norm. In the biblical scenario, you could witness an attempted lynching and only much later discover that the victim was a prostitute.
Nowadays, this physical violence is unlikely, as prostitution has been glorified, elevating its most prominent practitioners to the status of "celebrities," encouraging young people to pursue sin as if it were a legitimate career.
The media glorifies depravity to the point that, when reading a simple news portal, we come across the exposure of their obscene routines (or even episodes of blatant nudity!), making them known even to those who despise the profession.
The fact is that Christ, being God, didn't need introductions to know the details of a life, from beginning to end, and even less did he need to participate in depravity to show mercy.
In the recorded miracles, He was never caught off guard, but always positioned Himself strategically and, almost always, discreetly.
His intention was to convey the true message of the gospel, which was never about passively accepting reprehensible practices, but rather an imperative to break free from the shackles of evil: SIN NO MORE!
Thomas
Thomas, unlike the aforementioned prostitute, was part of the inner circle that interacted daily with the Messiah.
He not only witnessed undeniable miracles, but, in addition to what is recorded in the passage above, he repeatedly heard— Mark 10:32-34, Luke 18:31-34, Mark 8:31-33 (equivalent to Matthew 16:21-28), Mark 9:30-32 (equivalent to Matthew 17:22-23and Matthew 26:1-2 — the Master himself prophesying His death and resurrection. Yet Thomas acted like the typical humanist: he forgot the Word and embraced skepticism.
Following the trauma of the crucifixion, the Scriptures record this fantastic episode:
Now Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”.
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”.
Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them.
Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said:
Peace be with you.
Then he said to Thomas:
Put your finger here, and see my hands; and reach out your hand and put it into my side; do not be unbelieving, but believing.
And Thomas answered and said to him:
My Lord and my God!
Jesus said to him:
Because you have seen me, Thomas, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.
Glory Beyond Skepticism
Allow me a brief analytical update to this passage:
Thomas, like many "clients" of today's ecclesiastical enterprises, was in the right place and heard the faithful testimony of the fulfillment of prophecy, but he doubted everything!
Thomas, the "clever one," solemnly ignored what Jesus had warned beforehand. For him, the Lord was dead, and the account of his friends was a collective hallucination.
Perhaps he remained there for social convenience, since resurrection defied everything that the "scientism" of that time and of today dare to dictate.
Christ, however, was no longer limited by the organic body of His earthly ministry.
He appeared in a glorified body — something that transcends our imagination and, to use language that children and "geeks" understand, is infinitely superior to the power of a Super Saiyan.
Full of His divinity, He could perfectly well ignore that foolish, unbelieving, and self-absorbed being, letting him continue with his disbelief… and then, even more, condemn him to hell for refusing to believe the words that came from His own mouth!
But Christ, in His pedagogical mercy, materialized Himself supernaturally and focused His attention exclusively on His least faithful friend.
He allowed Thomas to touch the Sacred, which possibly all the other saved will only know face to face after the Triumphant Return.
Finally, Thomas believed. But Christ—adding to all the beatitudes listed in the Sermon on the Mount—pronounced on this unique occasion the one that can be considered the... greatest blessedness of all: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed!”
Finally, Thomas believed, but Christ—adding to all the beatitudes that (depending on the translation, can vary from 8 to 10) are officially listed in the Bible—on this very special and unique occasion, uttered this one which, incredibly, is not listed as one of them, despite possibly being considered the greatest of all: blessed are those who have NOT SEEN and yet HAVE BELIEVED!
What is the antonym of blessed?
Considering that "blessed" is a term that encompasses happiness, joy, and complete contentment, I understand it as an indication of being "more than happy": the beatitudes described by Christ transcend the fleeting emotional state; they approach the concept of "blessed.".
Therefore, it is appropriate to say: BLESSED are those who have NOT SEEN and yet have BELIEVED. The key to the title of this post lies in this definition.
The Truth Table of Faith
As shown in the table above, the analysis is based on pure propositional logic. If every statement of Christ is an absolute truth—an axiom without room for relativism—the structure “if p, then q (p → q)”"It becomes undeniable.".
If those who have not seen and yet have believed were blessed in the apostolic age, those who today possess a faith that transcends visual appearances continue to be blessed.
But what about the opposite? What about those who need a sign to believe? Those who wander in search of miracles to sustain their meager spirituality? Those who only call themselves Christians while under the influence of supernatural "movements"?
The answer lies in the axiom that concluded the previous post:
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
It's exciting and incredible how the Bible, which is the Truth, doesn't contradict itself: genuine faith only comes through knowledge of God's Word!!
Everything else is nonsense and, worse than that, those whose "faith" arose because of mystical shows where presenters supposedly force the Lord God to act miraculously in the way they command and when they wish... are simply NOT BLESSED!
If you understand the gravity of the antonym of "blessed," you will understand the weight of this conclusion: it is done. DAMNED Anyone who wants to can pass through the wide gate of biblical ignorance to a "Christian life" in which they pay mercenaries for "spiritual covering" or to be told that their sins have no consequences.
It is painful, but it is prophetic: whoever bases their faith on spectacle, and not on the Word, is outside the greatest blessedness!
Conclusion: The Beginning of Faith
But Teóphilo, does that mean God has stopped acting supernaturally?
I am not, with this text, defending cessationism or denying the existence of miracles. I firmly believe that no one can restrict the power or sovereignty of the Lord.
Similarly, witnessing a miracle doesn't make anyone cursed—I myself have seen the supernatural at work.
The central point of this analysis is the moment of the beginning of faith.
If the foundation of your belief depends on sight, touch, or a sign, you are reversing the logical order of the Kingdom. Discussion on this topic must be based strictly on Scripture.
Based on the reasoning developed so far, any argument in defense of a different position must be made directly from the Word, with relevant references, because simply thinking that something is "ugly" or "unfair" just because it's not as fluffy as the thin milk you've been consuming until now is nowhere near sufficient!
